Music in your Mixing

Postby phozee » Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:19 pm

Basically, do you guys try to keep mostly newer tracks in your mixes or pick from anything? and where do you find good / new tracks?

For me (I'm a trance head):

- Trackitdown.net - check every few days and listen to the first page or two of most recent tracks and featured tracks
- DI.fm - I don't listen to it as much anymore, but whether I'm gaming or doing homework, I hop between trance / vocal trance / occasionally breaks and hardcore
- astateoftrance.com - Armin van Buuren's weekly mix / show, every Thursday at 2 PM EST, played on DI's trance channel. I've heard him play multiple tracks now that I've fell in love with and can't find anywhere else because they haven't even been released by their label yet
- The YouTube channels for labels like Armada

I know Tiesto has Club Life and Ferry Corsten has Corsten's Countdown, I don't regularly listen to them but they're all great tunes.

I've tried to keep as many newer songs in mixes as possible but sometimes I can't help but put in older favorites.

Alright mate,

I do put new material into my mixes if I really love the tune. However, I will mix these in with the old-time classics, I'll never play a session without including the magic from 1999.

As far as where I hear about new tracks, a lot of it you've already listed. Here are my sources:

- TrackItDown (subscribed to 'Trance' mailing list)
- A state of trance
- DI.fm
- I follow 'AudioJelly' on twitter though which I've found gems I'd never have known about

Nice, I didn't know Trackitdown had a mailing list. I can't seem to find a way to subscribe to it, where did you find it?

Not sure how I subscribed to it, it was a long time ago. I've spotted the newsletter area at http://www.trackitdown.net/newsletter/

Although I only get sent emails about Trance. If you register and go to your account, you will be able to set your favorite genres. Give that a go and see what happens.

Take it easy!

Hey dude, you're absolutely right, it has been pretty dead in here. My fault too, I've not put up a video for 5 weeks and won't do so for another couple of weeks, I'm tied up with something else at the moment.

I shall be back on this soon though.

Take it easy!
